Meet some of the Families at OHV

‘Ohana Hope Village is now home to nearly 50 individuals, occupying 16  of the 88 home community.

“Aloha! Our family is so grateful for the opportunity to stay at ‘Ohana Hope Village. Its been a really hard time consistently moving and being uncertain where we will be able to stay long-term. We are in the process of healing as a family, because we not only lost our home, we lost our 5-month old baby during all the chaos and aftermath of the fires. It gives us a sense of hope and security to know that we have a home here at OHV. We feel very safe and happy to be part of the community. It’s still a long road ahead of us, but thanks to you, and everyone helping, we are able to heal and grow as a family. So much love and Aloha.”  ~ Family “R”

“Mahalo to those that made ‘Ohana Hope Village a place we could come to after losing our ‘Ohana hale that shared loving memories. This move also made things easier for our ‘Ohana of seven. Having to restore everything for my daughter that is diagnosed with Developmental delay and Cerebral Palsy and accommodation to her needs. We have found peace here at OHV not having to worry about moving hotel to hotel or limitations to things needed. Mahalo to all who made this possible.”

“Aloha! We chose to stay at ‘Ohana Hope Village because we don’t have to worry about paying more rent, and we have more time to spend quality time with our family. At OHV, we have less stress and have found healing for our family. The community is peaceful, quiet, and relaxing! We felt so much better after moving to OHV because the people here are so kind and helpful. Thank you to all who helped make this possible for us and everyone who needs housing.”

“Aloha, we are survivors of the Lahaina wildfire, I want to thank everyone who donated to make the Ohana Hope Village possible for our Families. Thank you for giving my family and I the opportunity to be part of the OHV community. After the devastating fire of Lahaina our lives changed forever. After sleeping at the park for three days, we got into a temporary housing program, which was ok at the time because we needed a place to live, but they constantly moved us from one place to another sometimes with only one day notice. Having to move our family of 7 was very hard for me and my wife. I feel that us having to move, work and going to FEMA every other day seeking for help lost the attention that our one year old twins needed at the time and now they have to take communication therapies. We are so happy to be now living at the OHV, now we can focus on raising our children and giving them the time they need, we now don’t have to worry about rent for a couple of years or not having an stable home for our children. We pray to God for all the people that supported this project our family is grateful for this opportunity and always be thankful. We are so happy in our new home, you guys changed our lives. Thank you very much.”
